Pick some chords and go! This is what I love about GarageBand. None of these are prerecorded loops. There are some smart strings in here, but otherwise it’s just playing some layers together.
Razor Rock Loops
There is a set of loops in GarageBand called Razor Rock Guitar. This is an arrangement of those loops with some drums and effects. Just quick fun.
What is the name of the pink-Mohawked Lego punk guitarist?
Larry, Mo or…
Curly? Leave his name in the comments if you know.
Basically Schizophrenic
The is an alternate, more contemporary arrangement of “Con Chair Toe”. If you haven’t listened to that one yet, go there next. This is the heart of what Tinker Timbre is all about. This has some elements, including the timing change that GarageBand does not lend itself to very well. It was a bit of a math exercise to get that to work. There are at least a dozen variations on this theme. Hence the title and stack of heads. Maybe someday I’ll do a 15-minute version of this one. What do you think? Leave a comment.
Con Chair Toe del Garage
This is a tune that’s been in my head for about thirty years. It’s great to finally have a tool to extract and compile all the parts without old multi-track recording machines! Comparing the counterpoints between parts by rotating them through the arrangement is so cool in GarageBand. It’s kind of like swapping the blocks on a Lego model…
Side 2 Side
Just a fun collection and arrangement of loops in GarageBand.
Shoulder to Shoulder
Ever feel like there are two different people whispering in your ears? This is a comparison of two four-chord progressions that are only one note different. One is much more harmonious than the other. But there is something sultry and colorfully seductive and about the minor progression that makes me want to keep coming back to it…
No GarageBand loops here. These are all played as straight parts except for the arpeggiator.
Love that Leslie!
Electr Tech Diesel Power Samples
This is a crazy experiment with a bunch of loops named Deisel Power. This is the most electronic sound I have tinkered with so far. I wish GarageBand had more ways to tweak and customize the built-in loops without having to re-record them into the system.
Boogie Rite
This is an arrangement using almost all the GarageBand loops named Boogie Right. It reminds me of several of the original emotes in Fortnite.
Boogie Down!
Black Tie Required
This is a collage of all the symphonic loops in GarageBand version 1. It feels very formal.
On The Run
More playing on this one. Way fewer sample loops and smart instruments. This just feels like a chase seen in a low-budget spy flick. Does he get caught in the end or does he get away? Leave me a comment and let me know…
